The set of instructions given to computer to solve a problem is called software. The computer instructions are stored in inside the computer memory in the form of binary digits. These instruction cannot be seen or touched and therefore called software.
Types of Software:
There are two types of software: Application Software and System Software or Operating System.
Operating System or System Software:
System software is a program the computer to be used by human user. It manages the computer hardware, CPU, memory drives, etc.
It also runs application software. Commonly used operating systems are Unix, MacOS, MS Dos, and Windows,
Application Software:
Application software are the programs that enable computer user to apply the computer to the work thy do. They are also called utility packagers or application packages.
